The third “Dynamics of Disease” Workshop took place from 21 to 23 August at the University of Manchester. It introduced generic concepts in Systems Medicine and focussed on two particularly promising fields: Systems Neurology and Systems Endocrinology.

These are fields where Systems Approaches have been used for some time successfully, but not necessarily under that name. Presently, both fields advancing rapidly to take advantage of the new imaging and computational technologies and fuse the clinical, biological and computational approaches such that ultimately molecular, cellular and physiological understanding is achieved.

The Workshop talks exemplified the practice of “Systems Collaborations” in these fields. Participant discussed the emergence of new collaborative ideas to progress the scientific approach.
